Our new Multi-Account Containers extension for Firefox means you can finally wrangle multiple email/social accounts. Install it and be who you want to be!
Firefox respects your desire to do other things while you browse the web. Firefox doesn’t use as much RAM as Chrome. And it doesn’t hog your ability to do more things at once. Instead, Firefox strikes a balance by using four content processes at any given time. Why four? Because four is the right number for many internet users: an amount that apportions enough RAM for superior browser performance, while also leaving more RAM for other apps and programs to use.

In order to clearly highlight risk to the user, starting this month in Firefox 51 web pages which collect passwords but don’t use HTTPS will display a grey lock icon with a red strike-through in the address bar.
As part of the Tor uplift project, we are going to implement anti-fingerprinting protection [1] in Firefox.
This bug is used as the meta bug of all anti-fingerprinting features.

- Chromium-based browsers do not support user styles
- Chromium-based browsers can’t block data URI-based requests through the webRequest API.
- Chromium-based browsers are being “infested” by Instart Logic tech which works around blockers and worst, around browser privacy settings (they may start “infecting” Firefox eventually, but that is not happening now).
- I am not aware of any anti-fingerprinting initiative taken up with Chromium, unlike with Firefox.
- Etc.
There is much more I could list here. It baffles me that some people thinks Firefox is becoming a “Chrome clone”, it’s just not the case, it’s just plain silly to make such statement.
The containers feature is enabled in Firefox Nightly 50 by default with the about:config pref privacy.userContext.enabled
set to true. When enabled, containers will integrate seamlessly into your current browsing experience. You will have the option to open entirely new browsing contexts, which will have their browser storage (such as cookies or localStorage) separated from other containers. Your normal tabs, which we consider to exist in the default container, will still look and act as you'd expect them to before enabling containers.
Container tabs operate just as you would expect a normal tab to, except for the fact that the sites you visit will have access to a separate slice of the browser's storage. This means your site preferences, logged in sessions, and advertising tracking data won't carry over to the new container. Likewise, any browsing you do within the new container will not affect the preferences, logged in sessions, or tracking data of your other containers.
